The Kimberley can be a haven for many trying to avoid the dreary winters in the south of the state, but it's not all wonderful weather in this beautiful part of the country. Hence the reason we have a limited season to show you the many amazing and secluded spots that the Kimberley Region is treasuring.
The Kimberley Region is located just north of the Tropic of Capricorn and falls within a Tropical Monsoon Climate, which therefore gives you a Dry Climate and a Wet Climate. The Wet Season is from about October to March every year and temperatures range from about 25C to 38C this also includes a very high rainfall actually about 90% of the rainfall occurs during the Wet Summer and that humidity! Yes it can get quite humid up there. Then also through these months you get the odd tropical Cyclone or two, which although they can be quite fierce they bring in amazing and spectacular thunderstorms which light up the nights sky.
The Dry Season however is when the Kimberley Tourism Industry booms and from April till September the temperatures range from about 15C to 30C, with these lovely sunny days and cool nights it gives us the opportunity to show you around the Kimberley enjoying all the gorges and waterfalls that this Region has to offer. This is why we at Kimberley Extreme run our seasons from April to Early October. It gives us an opportunity to show you around the area in comfort and with mostly perfect weather, tides and conditions.
April and May are generally great months to get in and book your trip with us to avoid the peak tourist season in June/July. But heh if you plan ahead you can join us for the busiest time of the year.
In April it is pretty much the end of the Wet Summer and things are still quite warm and the humidity is much the same as during the Wet Summer.
May comes along and the land looks amazing due to the rainfall during the Wet Summer everything is green and lush you may get the occasional shower but the Horizontal Waterfalls are amazing at this time.
June/July being obviously a school holiday period can get quite busy but as I said before if you plan ahead its a great time to come along. The days are warm and sometimes the nights can start to get a little chilly, depending on what area you visit whether it be The Horzizontal Falls, Flying out of Derby or Broome be prepared for the most amazing experience of your life.
August tends to be very busy still and the weather is very balmy, great for a dip in the water if you get the chance.
Getting in the last part of the season September is when it starts warming up again and if you don't mind the heat then its a great time to travel as most travellers tend to head to the cooler climates.
October is when things tend to dry up a little, but sometimes you get the occasional afternoon sun shower which is always beautiful. We pretty much close for Business mid October and head south due to the oncoming Wet Summer approaching we are unable to show you some of the wonders of the Kimberley and with the unpredictable weather it would not be safe to keep trading during these months. I hope this gives you a good outline on when to travel and gets you thinking of planning your trip with Kimberley Extreme the only team to show you the Horizontal Falls and many other beautiful places the Kimberley Region has to offer. |
